The Taft Community Center facilities are available to the public on a rental basis. Organizations, groups and individuals are welcome to use the facilities for meetings, receptions and other gatherings. Available areas include the assembly room, auditorium, kitchen, conference room and arts & craft (preschool) room. More Info

The Fitness Center is a family oriented facility with many activities and amenities, including machine weights, free weights, treadmill, Stairmaster, basketball court, racquetball court, billiards, ping pong, foosball, board games, big screen TV, and shower & restroom facilities. Skate Escape

The Skate Escape is a family oriented facility. Roller-skating, video games and music are all part of the fun. Inline skaters are always welcome, and skates are also available for rental. The snack bar is always open and special skate nights take place at least once a month.

Hours of Operation:
Friday and Saturday from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Admission is $1.75 per person and skate rental is $1 per pair for regular skates and $2 per pair for inline skates.

Skate Park

Community Center Park
10th and Kern Street

Taft's first-class concrete Skate Park is located near the corner of 10th and Kern Streets in the southeast corner of the Community Center Park. The skate facility, which is 12,000 square feet in size, includes a drop-in, rails, half-pipe, pyramid, flat banks and transitions as well as grinding rails, benches, and curbs. The Skate Park is fenced with surrounding grass, trees, lights and restroom facility. The Skate Park is non-supervised and free of charge. All skaters are required to wear helmets. This 27-acre park includes three lighted softball diamonds, a BMX/Motocross track, several picnic sites with barbecues, two new playground areas, 18-hole disc golf course, three group picnic pavilions, a 400 capacity parking lot, over 300 shade trees, two restroom facilities and a concession building. The complex is used for softball leagues and tournaments, instructional baseball and soccer, and special events. The softball diamonds are available on a first come, first serve basis unless advance reservations have been made. The picnic pavilions are also available on the same basis. More Info

"A" Street Park

"A" & Hillard Streets

'A' Street Park is a seven acre park located on the corner of 'A' Street and Hillard Street in Taft across from Parkview School. The park is fully accessible and has two covered pavilions, lighted basketball courts, two practice baseball diamonds, off-street parking, restroom facilities, and a new playground. The pavilions and practice diamonds are available on a first-come, first-serve basis unless advance reservations have been made. More Info

Mil Potrero Park

Mil Potrero park is located 40 miles south of Taft at the foot of Mt. Abel at an elevation of 5,500 feet. There is over 47 acres of forest land and lodging includes over 40 camping sites and a rental cabin. Four seasonal weather, hiking, bird watching and much more make the Mil Potrero Park a great place to go year round. The fee for day use is $3 for cars, $5 for vans, and $10 for busses.

Mt. Abel

The West Side Mountain Park was established in 1938. It covers 200 acres of land and is located 3 miles north of Pine Mountain Club on Mt. Abel. Elevation ranges from 5,600 - 7,200 feet. Forest, four seasonal weather, natural spring water, hiking and much more make this area an ideal recreation park year round. There is a cabin, Lower Ski Lodge, and Camp Condor group camping facility available for rent at Mt. Abel.

Camp Condor is the premier facility at the Westside Mountain Park. We offer a summer program for children six to fourteen years of age. In addition, we offer the facility to private parties and youth groups.

 

Natatorium

4th and Warren Streets

The Walter Glenn Natatorium is the District's swimming pool facility. The facility consists of two pools, a concession stand, and locker rooms.
One pool is for children and beginning swimmers and has a depth of 1-3 feet. The second is a 35x20-yard pool with a 3-meter diving board and has a depth ranging from 3 to 12 feet.
The pool is equipped with state of the art filtration and chlorination equipment. The pool is open seven (7) days a week during the summer months for swim lessons, special events and open swim sessions. More Info
