Kathy Johnson

Born and raised in Taft, Kathy Johnson attended Taft schools, graduating from TaftUnion High School.  She is a mother of four children and grandmother of five.  Kathy calls herself a "late bloomer" because it took her thirty-five years to complete her A.A. and 18 months to get her B.A. in Liberal Education from the University of LaVerne.

Kathy has been active in the Taft community activities.  She is a member of the Westside Christian Ministers Association and is a founding board member of the Taft Community Garden.

Before joining Taft College as the Director of the West Kern Adult Education Network, she worked for the West Side Community Resource Center, working with families referred by Child Protective Services.  She has seen first-hand, how education can bring families out of poverty and looks forward to continuing that work at the West Kern Adult Education Network.

Kathy joined the Taft Chamber Board of Directors in 2017.
